Geeking Out at the Library: Our Haul

Not only do we love hiking, but we love LIBRARIES. I'd argue that a trip to the library counts as an adventure! True, it's not the same thing as climbing a mountain, but going through stacks and stacks of books or DVDs and picking out the perfect one isn't anything to sneeze at. It takes a certain amount of skill to--

Oh c'mon. Let's just call it like it is. I'm a library geek and I make no apologies.

Our library system consists of 38 libraries! The website catalog contains sooooo many books, magazines, DVDs, audiobooks, etc. and if your local library doesn't have what you need, well then you just request it and it's sent to whichever one is most convenient.

We're fortunate enough to have a library right across the street from us, but it's tiny and doesn't have any DVDs. We sometimes travel to the county library, but let's face it... we're lazy. Sometimes you just want to walk 400 steps (out-and-back) and not have to jump in the car and face traffic. So we get most everything sent to the library across the street. They know us there. And Liam knows they have lollipops.

So here is our most recent haul!

We haven't read this one yet...

Or this one...

Or this one!
I try to get Liam to read some of the text, but he balks at that.
He gets frustrated and gives up quickly.
We're working on that, gently and patiently.

We read this one today.
Nice illustrations!

We're halfway through this one... so much fun!
Liam asks for it several times a day and I read until my voice gives out.
Which is after about 3 chapters.

This is next on our chapter book to-read list.
I loved it as a kid!

Storks is ADORABLE. I just love it.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is also cute.
Lego Batman is one of his favs. I hate it, but who am I to judge?
Night at the Museum 3 is not nearly as good as 1 and 2.

A couple North Jersey hiking books.
So, yes, this post includes hiking stuff!
You never doubted me for a second, did you?

Lower Hudson Valley hiking books.
Lots of cool new places to try out!

Most of the hikes in these two books are too far from us.
But it's fun to dream.
